Ms. Khasia is an international expert in the field of corrections. She was the Head of the Social Service of the Penitentiary Department in 2005-2007, then managed regional projects at the international non-government organization, Penal Reform International; served as the Head of the Penitentiary Department of the Ministry of Corrections in 2012-2013 and later was a Regional Prison System Adviser at the International Committee of the Red Cross in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in 2015-2019. Throughout the last 15 years Ms. Khasia was also involved with a number of international organizations as an expert in numerous short term consulting assignments.
Ms. Khasia has extensive experience in capacity building, primarily as a trainer for public sector professionals in criminal justice field. She was the Director of the Penitentiary and Probation Training Center (PPTC) of the Ministry of Corrections of Georgia in 2013-2015 and has developed and delivered numerous trainings in Europe and Asia during the last 15 years.
Ms. Khasia is the author of various articles and researches related to the corrections, prevention of ill-treatment and persons with disabilities and has developed manuals for social workers, trainers of the PPTC, probation system mentors and monitors of closed institutions. She has degrees in law and was a lecturer in a number of universities in Georgia and abroad, including both general and specialized institutions for criminal justice professionals.
